If the file won’t upload, what can I do?
In the event an error occurs or your file is too large to upload, we recommend using a file transfer program like dropbox, or deliver the file on CD, DVD or Memory Stick to our offices.
How long will it take to upload my files?
This will greatly depend on your internet connection and file size, please wait till you get our upload complete before ending your session.

Do you have templates to help me correctly design my project?
Yes, we recommend downloading our templates which are available for all products. We supply templates in PDF, Corel and AI file formats, while images are available on the products page when selected.
Can I use images acquired on the internet?
Downloading and printing images from the internet is NOT ADVISABLE. Most images on the net are only 72dpi for screen use and many also carry copyright protection. Images can be bought from royalty free websites that will give you high quality prints. Please ensure when buying images the appropriate size and resolution has been selected for the final printed document.

How can I tell what resolution the image from my digital camera is?
Most camera’s measure in pixels, the easiest way to determine what size your image can be printed is divide the pixel dimensions by 300. e.g. a 600×900 resolution can be printed at 300dpi for an image size of 2 x 3 inches. (50mm x 75mm). On Roller Banners, Posters and other Wide format printing options images as low as 140dpi will still look respectable.
Can I use pictures from my digital camera?
Yes, new digital cameras are a great way of getting quality shots of your products into print, just be sure to set your picture quality of the camera to as large as possible ensuring the best quality when coming to print.
Do I need to impose my business cards?
Not necessary, we will handle all imposition on our end.
Will you match a sample I print out on my own printer, or have had previously printed?
We can colour match for you, just be sure to call us before work commences and arrange for a sample to be delivered to our offices
What is the difference between the RGB and CMYK and how will it affect my print?
CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow & Black) are the colours used in the printing process, while RGB (Red, Green & Blue) are used by screens. The brighter colours in the RGB spectrum cannot be obtained during the CMYK printing process, and therefore colours may differ slightly if RGB colours are used in your design.

So many fonts are now available online that we cannot keep them all, the best solution is either to convert your fonts to paths or curves in your design package or correctly embed them when creating your pdf document. You can also upload your fonts to us during the upload process. Please check you pdf proof carefully to make sure no fonts have been substituted during our imposition process.
What is Bleed?
Bleed as us printers refer to it, is the portion of the image extending outside the final cutline by a minimum of 2mm. This is necessary to compensate for production tolerances during the printing and cutting process to give you a finished product printed correctly to the edge of the sheet. How do I create a pdf for you?
We recommend installing PrimoPDF, which is a free utility to create pdf files, after installation open your PrimoPDF settings and select Pre-Press, which will keep your images at a high resolution when creating your PDF file.
What file formats do you accept?
Although we prefer print ready pdf files as artwork, we do accept most file formats including: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, CorelDraw, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Powerpoint, Postscript Files, TIFF Images and Jpeg’s.
What courier companies do you use?
We make use of a few Courier Companies, depending on your area to ensure your product gets to you as quickly as possible.
Can you mail my postcards, brochures, etc. if I send you a mailing list?
Yes, however this is a specific solution and we would need to quote you according to the number of pieces you wish to mail. Call us for a quote on 021 685 6930.
How can I track delivery times?
On dispatch of your order a confirmation email will be sent to you, with your specific Tracking Number, and website link that it can be viewed on.
What are my delivery options?
The Printing Press offers a courier service nationwide, or we can hold the parcel for you to arrange collection from our offices at 97 Durban Road, Mowbray, Cape Town 7700.
How do I view my proof?
Your proof will be emailed to the email address provided during your account creation, all proofs are sent in pdf format, and we recommend using Acrobat Reader 9 or higher in order to facilitate the soft proofing process.
What is your refund policy?
Due to the nature of print, we cannot offer refunds for ordered work, as all jobs are unique to the client. If you cancel the job during the proofing stages, a refund may be granted less a 12% handling fee for time spent processing the job. View more about our refund policy.
What if I want to change something on my order after I’ve placed it or approved the proof?
Call us immediately on 021 685 6930, due to the nature of print once we have printed the goods we cannot offer any changes to the product, there is a small window from accepting the proof to printed materials, so don’t delay. (Approx 1-2 Hours from Proof Approval)
Will I always receive exactly the quantity I order?
In most cases you will get at least 5% overs free of charge, this is also in case there are a few error prints that did not get picked up by our quality control.
How long will it take to get my order?
We are fast! Most of our products are dispatched within 48 hours of final sign-off, and depending on your selected delivery option, you could be holding our parcel as quick as that or might have to wait a few days for delivery.
How long should it take for a proof of my job?
Generally you should have a proof in under 24hours.
How do I place an order and upload my files later?
If your artwork is coming from a graphic designer or too large to upload on our server, we offer dropbox functionality or you can deliver a CD to our offices, select the “artwork supplied later” option on the upload facility page.
How well will my job match the soft proof?
Quite well actually, although monitor calibration is different from one to the other, our soft proofs are generated as a pdf using CMYK values, which are closely matched in print.
How do I order multiple products?
Your product will remain in your cart till check-out simply add a new product and upload both files.
Is there an extra charge for bleed?
No, in fact we recommend bleed on most jobs, and you will not be charged any extra.
My product isn’t listed can you still print it?
Yes, either call us on 021 685 6930 or use our email form to generate a quote specific to your print project. With so many products available in printing we can only offer popular choices through our online order process, but we just about do it all.
Can I order Spot & Pantone colour printing from you?
Yes, although currently not offered through the online process, Pantone colours can be printed with most products. Please use our email form to request a specific quote, when thinking about this as an option.
Is this paying online thing safe?
Yes, and secure. We use a third party called PayFast for all payment processing. If you are a online wizz, you will no doubt already have a PayFast account, as it is widely used by South African vendors. Read more about payment options at payment info.
How does this online ordering work?
It is easy with our step by step process.
Step 1. Simply choose your desired product.
Step 2. Sign In, or Create a User Account.
Step 3. Select your preferred delivery method.
Step 4. Be redirected to our secure payment gateway and make payment.
Step 5. Upload your artwork.
We will then supply you a proof email, generally within 24hours. As soon as we receive Approval Notification we will start the print process. Once we have finished printing we may send you a confirmation of item being despatched as well as the Waybill Number, and links to track your package.
What is the GoGreen option?
The Printing Press keeps trying to reduce its environmental impact through various practices. The GoGreen option simply gives you the client ability to help a little more by selecting recycled & FSC certified materials. We then also donate a percentage of your purchase to WESSA wildlife fund.
